Our Values & Vision

“I grew up in a very athletic and sports-oriented family. At young ages, my sisters and I were always involved in competitive sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and tennis. In college, I continued to challenge my body with long-distance running and continue to run marathons to this date. That being said, I was looking for a new challenge for my body that would provide me with more strength and flexibility than I was receiving with my running and weight-training routine. I had also turned thirty-something and began seeing changes in areas of my body that I didn’t like. That’s when I found out about [Evolve Movement]. I had taken a mat class a few years earlier, and had enjoyed it, but had never used the pilates apparatus. After trying the machines I never looked back. The pilates method has totally transformed my body. For me, it wasn’t about weight loss, but toning and flexibility. I now have a long, lean and healthy-looking body. It all happened very quickly with private and semi-private equipment sessions and, within a month, my husband and friends were commenting on the beautiful changes that were taking place.”

“When I came to [EVOLVE MOVEMENT], I had a variety of problems. They included aching knees and legs, pain in my feet, a very poor posture and general inflexibility throughout my body. All other forms of exercise that I have tried in my life have left me with injuries or one kind or another. In the past, I have always had to quit the exercise routine because of [becoming injured] before I could even reap its benefits. Working with a pilates trainer at [EVOLVE MOVEMENT] has changed all of that. My legs and knees no longer hurt. The pain in my feet has diminished. My posture is much better and I have even gained back much of the flexibility that I had lost over the past 10 years! The instructors are all very good at explaining the exercises and are also very sensitive to my emotional reactions to the training. All of the [EVOLVE MOVEMENT] instructors bring a great deal of experience and skill to their [clients]. I plan to continue studying and exercising at Body Balance for as long as I can.”

- Judy Cantor, Raleigh, NC

“Without a doubt, I have enjoyed my experience with Pilates and Gyrotonic®, both on the mat and with the equipment. My biggest problem is that I don’t have time to squeeze in more sessions! I find all of the instructors at [EVOLVE MOVEMENT] to be very knowledgeable. Visiting the studio is always a very pleasant experience, no matter how down-in-the-dumps I am feeling before I arrive. I always feel so much better after my session, which is great testimony for both my mind and body benefiting from pilates and Gyrotonic. Now that I am in my 60s, both pilates and Gyrotonic have enabled me to reclaim the body that I had in my 30s. It is stronger and even better aligned now than I remember it being back then! My friends are constantly remarking about how good I look these days. The upper body strength and awareness that Ive acquired is very complimentary to the flamenco dancing that I do, and I actually have more stamina than the other dancers, who are much younger than I. Coupled with my dancing and other aerobic exercise that I do on my own, pilates and Gyrotonic have helped me to become more fit and trim that I’ve been in many, many years.”
